Mettlen, Susan

Dr. Susan Mettlen may be new to the College in her role as the director of the Student Assessment Center (a.k.a., testing center). However, when Hurricane Sandy struck, she worked like a seasoned veteran. She was among the first to report to the Command Center in Elizabeth, on Thurs., Nov. 1, and she remained at her post for 12-hour days through Tues., Nov. 6. Her chief responsibilities included helping faculty and students log on to the Hurricane Sandy ANGEL shell as well as staffing the student "hot line" to help students displaced from the Cranford campus find their classes in Elizabeth. As the head of the Assessment Center, she made sure that students were able to continue taking placement tests at the Elizabeth and Plainfield campuses while the Cranford Campus was closed.
