Assistant Controller Tom Truchan was not going to let a mere hurricane deprive Union employees of their paychecks. On Tues., Oct. 30, with Hurricane Sandy in full force, he drove his Prius to Dayton, NJ (NJ Turnpike Exit 7) to pick up the paychecks. The next day he went to Pennsylvania to get gas. Then on Nov. 1, still without any power in his home and still unshaven, he went to the Elizabeth Campus to distribute paychecks. Finance Operations Manager Jacqueline Jarosz and Melissa Press assisted with the distribution, which also took place in Plainfield. More than 400 College employees receive their checks in person rather than by mail or direct deposit.
