Associate Professor Anna Brophy has taught mathematics at Union since the fall of 2008 and has earned student praise throughout her teaching career. She previously taught mathematics at Horry-Georgetown Technical College in South Carolina. Prior to that, she was a computer programmer and an actuarial analyst. At Union, she has chaired the Academic Evaluation Committee and the Scholarship Committee. She currently serves on the Mathematics Success Advisory Committee, the Professional Development Committee, and the College Educational Programs Advisory Committee. She has a master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from Stevens Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Rutgers. This year, she received her doctorate in Mathematics Education from Rutgers. Her research involved understanding how pre-service teachers build and justify their solutions to a series of problems involving Combinatorics.
