Strom, Ivan

Dr. Ivan Strom joined Union County College in 2001, created the current very popular Astronomy and new Meteorology offerings, and has been teaching Astronomy since 2004.  He especially enjoys challenging and guiding his students into new ways of thinking about the world, stars, and Universe.  Prior to joining Union, he performed infrared astronomy at NASA, biomedical engineering at Roosevelt Hospital, and managed development of several large-scale software systems at Bell Labs.  He is currently creating a software system linking the Union catalog with the Curriculum Committee and Learning Outcomes Assessment Committee review processes. In his spare time, Dr. Strom pursues his interests in music, and is the keyboardist for the blues/classic rock band "Blue Router." Dr. Strom holds a BA, MA, MPhil, and Ph.D. from Columbia University.
