Discover a Career Working with Children!If you enjoy working with young children, consider the Child Development Associate (CDA) program which is offered through the Continuing Education department. This is a 120 hour non-credit program which helps prepare you to be a child care professional or to establish your own childcare business. This program is offered in both English and Spanish. The Child Development Associate, a national credentialing program, is a competency-based credential and New Jersey licensing regulation recognizes the CDA credential as equal to the Group Teacher title. There are a few upcoming CDA classes in English that are about to start in March. The first, Child Care: Professional Practices Part One, is a 30 hour class and runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 11:30 a.m. from March 19 April 25. Another section is also offered from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on the same dates. Part Two of this class runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 11:30 a.m. from April 30 May 30. Another section is also offered from 6:00 9:00 p.m. on the same dates. An additional class in the program is CDA: Portfolio Preparation and this will be offered on Tuesdays from March 19 May 28 from 11:30 a.m. 2:30 p.m.For complete CDA course information, including course description, see page 17 of the Continuing Education brochure which is available online: www.ucc.edu/noncredit or in the Continuing Education office.
