Union County College student-athletes named to All-Garden State Athletic Conference teams

Union County College’s Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams both had very successful seasons. Student-athletes on both teams were named to the 2014 All-Garden State Athletic Conference Teams in Division III in the National Junior College Athletic Association.

The Women’s Soccer team had three players named to the All-Garden State team. Bianca Ferreira, of Hillside, and Catalina Lozano, of Rahway, were named to the First Team. Tamoya Brown, of Elizabeth, was named to the Second Team. The Lady Owls ended the season with a record of 13-3 and are ranked fourth in Region XIX.

 Some of Lady Owl’s also achieved national rankings in Region XIX. For goals scored, Ms. Lozano is in first place with 38 and Ms. Ferreira is in fifth place with 24. For assists made, Ms. Lozano is in first place with 22 and Ms. Ferreira is in third with 15. And for total points scored, Ms. Lozano is in first place with 98 and Ms. Ferreira is in third with 63.

The Men’s Soccer team also had three players named to the All-Garden State team. Alapson Falaise of Hillside was named to the First Team. Jimmy Moleus and Walter Franco, both from Elizabeth, were named to the Second Team. As well, Samuel Alte Jacque of Elizabeth ranked nationally in fifth place with a total of 13 assists. The Men’s team ended their season with a record of 9-6.
