Welcome (and Welcome Back) to Union’s Students:
I am pleased that you are joining us for what I expect to be another spectacular year at Union County College.
I appreciate that you have put your faith in Union to help you realize your goals and dreams. Union’s faculty and staff will do everything they can to ensure that you succeed.
To begin the academic year, faculty, staff, and students will be located at stations throughout the three campuses during "First Week" (Wed., Sept. 4 - Tues., Sept. 10). They will be there to greet you and to help you find your way to your classes and activities. These helpers will be wearing "Ask Me" buttons so you can easily identify them and get the assistance you need. Even if you don’t really need any "information," stop by the stations to say "hello."
For eight decades Union has been helping individuals improve their lives by preparing for fulfilling careers and discovering new interests. On October 16, I hope that you will participate in our Founders’ Day events and help celebrate the College’s 80th Anniversary.
Our "Students are Number One" tagline is more than mere words. The way we care for our students is the legacy we leave as career educators. Our Counseling staff, our advisors in Admissions and Financial Aid, and our faculty are committed to helping you succeed.
I encourage you to meet our College Life staff and students in the Student Government Association at our three campuses. Our clubs, honor societies, and SGA sponsored-activities continue to flourish. Events in our theater will continue to feature our students and staff. And our athletic programs are second to none-and continue to grow, as this fall we are adding Cross Country to our Track and Field team.
Throughout the semester I encourage you to visit the Academic Learning Centers (ALC) and Math Success Centers in Cranford and Elizabeth for peer tutoring assistance. Stop by before an exam or a paper is due so you are well prepared and can achieve the grade you want.
Thank you for choosing Union County College. As our student, you make our campuses a vibrant place of enrichment and growth.
I hope to see you around campus during "First Week" and throughout the fall semester.
Best wishes for a successful 2013-14 year!
