Union County College is pleased to announce our participation in New Jersey Transit’s University Partnership Program. This will allow full-time Union County College students to purchase monthly NJ Transit bus, rail or light rail tickets at a 25% discount (plus a $3 monthly processing fee). This is particularly beneficial in this era of rising gasoline prices, limited on-campus parking and in light of the proximity of Union County College’s Cranford, Elizabeth and Plainfield campuses to mass transit options.

NJ TRANSIT Online Student Pass FAQ

What is NJ TRANSIT Student Pass?

NJ Transit Online Student Pass provides full-time Union County College students with a 25% discount on monthly passes for NJ Transit buses, trains and light rail systems to travel to and from a Union County College campus.

Is this program for any student in NJ?

No. Colleges and Universities must join the Student Pass program first before students can buy a Student Pass. Participating schools include Bergen Community College, Berkeley College, Bloomfield College, Drew University, Drexel University, Essex County Community College, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Hudson County Community College, John Jay College, Kean University, Middlesex County Community College, Monmouth University, Montclair State University, New Jersey City University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, New York University, Passaic County Community College, Ramapo College, Richard Stockton College, Rowan University, Rutgers University, Seton Hall University, St. Peter’s College, Stevens Institute of Technology, UMDNJ, Union County College, University of Pennsylvania, and William Paterson University.

Are all students able to buy a Student Pass?

Only full time (12 credits or more per semester) students are eligible. This offer is not available to part-time students.

How do I buy a Student Pass?

All passes are purchased online through a secure, automatic bill payment system, known as Quik-Tik, which also provides account management tools. Union County College students must sign up with their correct Student ID#. There are no paper forms to complete or Union County College offices to visit. You must sign up by the 10th of the month to receive your monthly pass for the travel in the next month. (For example, sign up for your September monthly pass on or before August 10th)

How long is the pass good for?

The pass is good for one month. You will receive a new monthly pass in the mail each and every month unless you choose to suspend your account. Each month, your credit card is automatically billed.

Do I have to buy it for the summer months?

No. NJ Transit suspends every Student Pass account at the end of May. Students who want the Student Pass during the summer months or want to reactivate their Student Pass in the fall can do so through their online account.

Can I suspend my account at any time?

Yes. You can suspend your account through the online account management tools.

Please note – there are no paper forms to be completed, there is no office at Union County College to visit, this does not require a visit to an NJ Transit ticket office. This is entirely an online process. The offer is only available to students (no faculty or staff) and only for the purchase of monthly tickets, not for single ride fares. This offer is only for transit passes used to travel to and from Union County College, and NJ Transit reserves the right to cancel the account of anyone not complying with these guidelines.

So beat the high cost of gas, avoid parking problems and reduce your carbon footprint by riding New Jersey Transit!
