Union County College's Student Government Association and Psi Beta Honor Society joined forces and participated in Students Change Hunger, an initiative to bring food to families throughout the State of NJ, where one in every five children go to bed hungry most nights.
From mid-October to Nov. 20, K-12 schools and college and universities competed to see which institution could collect and deliver the most food to an area foodbank. Union County College delivered our donations to The Community FoodBank of New Jersey, in Hillside.
During their second visit, the students had the pleasure of meeting Richard J. Uniacke, facility director, who also gave them a tour. Last year the Foodbank collected more than 44 million pounds of food.
In their third and final visit to the center, on Nov. 21, the SGA and Psi Beta students learned they donated a total of 1,392 pounds of food from the initiative.
